Medication

It is the policy of the Peninsula School District not to give medicine to pupils at school, except at the request of the attending physician and the parent. If a child needs medicine three times a day, this can usually be given before school, after school, and at bedtime.

When a child is under the care of a physician and it is necessary for the child to take medication during the school day, these procedures are to be followed:

  1. The parent obtains the Physician’s Orders for Medication at School form from the school or doctor’s office, completes and signs the form, which includes the waiver of school liability.
  2. The parents will send or take the form to the physician for orders and signature.
  3. The parent will bring to the school the completed form and the medicine in the original container. The parent will send only the required number of doses to the school and will keep the remainder of the medicine at the home.
