Discipline & Rules
Our primary task is the education of all pupils. We work hard to provide an atmosphere conducive to that purpose.
Discovery maintains a blend of accepting children as individuals while promoting a positive learning atmosphere. Students are taught to be responsible for their actions and are learning self-discipline, respect for others, and good citizenship. We use the underling Principles of Love and Logic in Our School: 1. mistakes are opportunities for learning, 2. relationships are key to great classrooms and great learning, 3. empathy is the foundation of great relationships, 4. People build strength through struggle, and 5. to develop great skills as a problem solver, we must practice. Love allows children to grow through their mistakes and successes. Logic allows children to learn from the consequences of their choice. Periodically throughout the year, our counselor will offer Parenting Classes based on the principles of Love and Logic. Specific information on discipline procedures is outlined in a separate handbook that will come home with the Rights and Responsibilities booklet from the District. General Guidelines :
- Students will be courteous to others. Students are to obey and show proper respect to all adults who work at school and to their fellow students.
